Introduction to WebSphere Studio
WebSphere Development Studio Client (WDSc) for iSeries is a comprehensive PC-based development environment.
If you are V4R5 or higher and have iSeries host-based development tools, such as PDM, SEU, and SDA, you also have an unlimited number of WDSc licenses at no additional charge.
You can use WDSc to work with every type of application from web services to RPG.
It includes tools for editing, testing, and debugging Java and XML, as well as IBM's WebFacing tool for building web interfaces to green-screen applications.
It also includes the capability to run iSeries commands and to retrieve source code from the iSeries (or another remote system).
The CODE/400 (LPEX) editor for editing RPG, COBOL, and CL is fully integrated with WDSc.
In this session we'll cover WDSc product options for iSeries and some key concepts you'll need to take advantage of the WDSc environment.
We'll also explore some of the different tools available within WDSc, particularly the iSeries-specific tools, to give you a feel for how the product works.
