HTTP Server for iSeries: Apache Advanced Topics
There are many features of the HTTP Server for iSeries "powered by Apache". This session will focus on several advanced features.

If you have experience with HTTP servers on iSeries, this session will expand your knowledge by delving into an overview and configuration tips on the following topics:

  1. Supporting multiple Web sites using virtual hosting.
  2. Configuring for directory browsing.
  3. The 4 methods of user id and password protection, iSeries profiles, Validation Lists, LDAP, and application.
  4. Supporting secure transactions with SSL using Digital Certificate Manager and the capability to authenticate with client digital certificates.
  5. Static page caching support including the Fast Response Cache Accelerator (FRCA).
  6. Configuring a proxy server.
  7. Performance tips, knobs, and whistles.

Karen Richner   is a Software Engineer at IBM in Rochester, Minnesota, where she has worked since 1978, taking 6 years off to raise a family. She has a BS in Computer Science from Michigan State University. She spent the early part of her career on the S/34 and the S/36, concentrating mainly on communications functions, such as SNA and APPN. For the past four years, Karen has worked exclusively on the HTTP Server for iSeries and is currently the lead developer on the "Powered by Apache" HTTP Server for iSeries, having specialized in the SSL, proxy, and communications portions of the server.
