Preparing for the V5R3 DB2 SQL Query Engine
The SQL Query Engine (SQE), a reengineering of the DB2 UDB engine and optimizer, made it's debut with V5R2.
In this session, you will learn what was delivered with SQE and the types of SQL statements that will benefit from this enhancement.
You will also be introduced to the new DB2 UDB stats engine & auto collection facilities and how they impact SQL performance and how to proactively leverage database statistics to get the best SQL performance.
Jarek Miszczyk is a Senior Software Engineer at Solutions Enablement organization in Rochester, Minnesota. His mission is to provide consulting services to Independent Software Vendors, IBM Customers, and other IBM organizations on DB2 UDB for iSeries related issues. He also writes extensively and teaches IBM classes in all areas of the iSeries database. Before joining the Solutions Enablement, he has worked for three years at the ITSO Rochester, where he was the leading author of several popular database redbooks. Jarek has over 15 years experience in the computer field and his areas of expertise include cross-platform database programming, SQL, and database migration.
