FASUG Application Development Day 2004

Track D Session 2

Using the IBM XML Toolkit with RPG
Craig Pelkie

Using the IBM XML Toolkit with RPG
XML is a widely used markup language used to exchange data between systems and applications. Most of the discussion about using XML revolves around the various XML parsers available for Java or the Microsoft XML support. However, IBM provides an XML Toolkit that can be used from procedural languages such as RPG and COBOL. In this session, you will learn about the XML Toolkit, how it is accessed from RPG, the XML APIs that are supported, and see examples of RPG code used to parse and generate XML, using the Toolkit API support.
