Using Triggers on System i, iSeries, and AS/400

So what’s the big deal with triggers? How important are control, consistency, improved performance and programmer productivity? Triggers allow the definition and enforcement of business and/or database rules to be moved from application programs to the database manager, which allows the rules to be defined once. Enforcement can’t be bypassed, even by utilities like DFU, and your programmers don’t have to remember to include the code to test the rules in every program. This session will review trigger concepts and how they can be implemented in DB2 UDB.
